Centre Approved 6 Eco-Sensitive Zones in Gujarat

The Centre Government approved 6 eco-sensitive zones in Gujarat over all there are 275 has been approved by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Minister of state for Environment, forest and climate Change MR. Prakash Javadekar provided the information in Ragya Sabha on April 25, 2016.

Proposal of Eco-sensitive Zones

Minister stated that total 282 proposal was made for declaration around Wildlife Sanctuaries and National parks from various State Governments. The centre approved 6 in Gujarat to protect Marine National Park and Marine Wildlife Sanctuary, Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Narayan Sarovar Wildlife Sanctuary, Purna Wildlife Sanctuary, Vansda National Park and Thol Wildlife Sanctuary.

Approved of 275 has been made which 215 have been notified in the Gazette of India. 183 are draft notification and 32 are final notification.

Could this approved sanctuary effect on people and livelihood and number of eco-sensitive Zones approved and declared by government in country.

The concept of eco-sensitive Zone is to conserve biodiversity and endangered wildlife, and protect environment around the protected areas such as National Park and Wildlife Sanctuaries as a safety zone without impeding legitimate socio-economic development of the area.

Which provide adequate opportunities for livelihood security of local people. The eco-sensitive Zone is declared with following factors in biological diversity of areas, their conservation, proximity to wildlife sanctuary and National Park and Wildlife, Minister added.

The minister also added that, restrictions are imposed on certain identified projects and activities. Which could have adverse impact on wildlife and activities which are eco-friendly are promoted in Eco- sensitive area. The issue is livelihood of local is taken into consideration while determining the extent of eco-sensitive area.

Jharkhand also receive a 1 eco-sensitive Zone to protect Dalma Wildlife sanctuary. Eco-sensitive zones are declared after different account factors which impact on the biodiversity and to conserved wildlife.
