Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Indian actress whose classic beauty made her one of Bollywood’s premier stars has launched the first official poster of her upcoming movie ‘Sarbjit’. The Bollywood diva launched the first official poster along with BJP president Amit Shah and Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday at Shah’s residence. Sarbjit is an upcoming Indian biographical drama film directed by Omung Kumar. The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda in lead roles, with Darshan Kumar and Richa Chaddha essaying supporting roles in the film.

“I would like to congratulate the team for making a film on this topic. It’s the story of a young man, who gave away all his life for his nation. I would like congratulate the whole team and wish them success for the film. I hope that the message of the film should reach to every part of India. Dalbir Kaur and Sarabjit Singh’s struggle will motivate everyone,” Shah said at the event.

Bollywood beauty, Aishwarya Rai thanked the makers for giving her the chance to portray such a strong character. While speaking media Gadkari, the Union minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, said that the film would send an inspiring message to the youth of the country.

Directed by Omung Kumar, the movie ‘Sarbjit’ tells the story of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and was sentenced to death. The life story of Sarabjit will be narrated through his sister Dalbir Kaur’s character, who struggled for her brother’s freedom and justice for 23 years. Sarbjit was attacked by inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013 and died a few days later. The film will be narrated through the perspective of the victim’s sister Dalbir Kaur.

During the event Sarbjit’s director, Omung Kumar said that the purpose of launching the poster on the political stage was to convey that the movie is on a serious subject which needs to be treated in the same manner.
