No Tricks! Making A Big Impression At A Trade Show

The lessons we learn when starting our own business are various and no amount of studying can prepare you for the reality of the situation you face. In many ways, we learn by doing, and while we can take advantage of the various marketing tactics to ensure our company gains traction in the eyes of the customer and clients, one of the big ways we can show off our personality and brand is at a trade show. A trade show can transform your business overnight, pending you have everything in place. With this in mind, how can we make a big impression at a trade show?

Go In With A Definite Goal

Yes, we all want to gain more custom or more interest, which will result in more sales, but we have to really drill down exactly what we want from this trade show. Maybe we require a more comprehensive understanding of our brand from the perspective of clients, in which case, we need to go in with a solid plan as to how we can get this. Weighing ourselves up against our competitors is par for the course when we are preparing prior to the trade show, but a definite goal can provide us with a more substantial plan so we can achieve what we want.

A Cornucopia Of Accoutrements

Trade shows of big, brash affairs. You want to have the longest line, the showiest displays, and the neatest little tricks to highlight your brand. One of the simplest tricks is to have more promotional products than you can shake a stick at, because when you are making the most of planting that little seed in a customer’s or client’s mind, a small trinket becomes a simple way to display your branding and style, and if you get it right, especially with the designs, you can have people come back to you.

Think Outside The Box

Because trade shows are a melting pot of businesses and talents, we have to find ways to capture the imagination of passers-by. Now, that’s not to say that you have to resort to cheap gimmicks because it all has to coalesce effectively with your brand and identity. Anybody can smell a cheap party trick from a mile off, so if you’re looking to generate tangible buzz, you have to find that je ne sais quoi that gets people talking. For this is all about your identity, and ensuring that every small aspect amounts to more than the sum of its parts. It’s not just about the imagery, or the products, or even the staff members you have working the stall, it’s about everything working together in tandem. It may sound obvious, but this is why you have to go in with a preconceived notion of exactly what you want. If you don’t do this, you will have people hanging around, twiddling their thumbs, and not gaining the appropriate traction, not to mention the fact that a trade show space is incredibly expensive!

To make a big splash, yes you have to get some cash behind you, but when you succeed in creating a solid impression, this could catapult your business from zero to hero in a very short space of time.
