Chaplin:New Life, Museum Dedicate Him with Honor in Switzerland
Swiss village, Corsier-sur-Vevey (Switzerland) exhibit immersive museum showcasing the life and work of filmmaker opens on Sunday. World of Chaplin give a birth, 15 years in the planning will premiere in picturesque village on Lake Ganeva what would have been the British screen legends 127th birthday.
Eugene, 62 year old son added, ‘’ I think he would be pleased’’ and he wanted people to remember him, that’s why he did films and did it in such a perfections way. Museum is about 26 kilometers from Lausanne where he spent last 25 years of his life until his death in 1977 at age of 88.
He moved to Switzerland after fasten from US in 1950s over suspicions communist sympathies at the height of paranoia about Soviet Union infiltration. Chaplin world is also dotted with more than 30 wax figure created by the Grevin wax museum in Paris. Which include lifelike models of Chaplin, his wife Oona, actors and actresses from his films and friends like Albert Einstein, as well as artist who inspired by his work such as Michael Jackson, woody Allen and Federico Fellini.
The Swiss- Canadian director of Chaplin world said, ‘’ A place where people can laugh and get emotion, that’s what he would wanted’’. Costume like hat, shoes, cane which Chaplin used to wear in films, Michael Chaplin said, ‘he has never seen an original one before’.
Certificate signed by Queen Elizabeth II when Chaplin was knighted in 1975 and honorary academy Award and Oscar which he won for film ‘’ Limelight’’.
Chaplin began his career as an actor on stage 1903, toured United States as a member of the Karno troupe in 1910 later he appear in films for Keystone Studios. He never got a full fledged in Hollywood, but in 1973 he receive a special Oscar. He made his last film ‘’ A Countess from Hong Kong’’ in 1966.
