Key Things You Need to Have In Place Before Beginning A Weight Loss Journey
As you know, I’ve started my weight loss journey recently. Having done that I have come to realize that before you get going on achieving your goals, there are a few things that you need to have in place. Read on to find out what they are and to learn from my experiences.
First of all, before you can achieve your weight and fitness goals you need to set them. It’s no good just being vague and saying I want to weigh less. How much less? What is a realistic target weight loss per week? How long will you be on the program for and how will you reward yourself when you have got your interim targets (Hint – it’s not with food!)?
It helps to either use an app or an online tracker to monitor your progress too. Then it’s easy to celebrate your victories and easy to see if you’ve got a bit of course. It helps you to get back on track a lot more easily.
Some people often choose to use a personal fitness tracker band. They buzz at you when you have completed your number of steps for the day. So you always know here you are with your fitness goals.
On the practical side, you will need to make sure that you have the clothing and equipment that you need before you start a new fitness regime.
Remember it’s best to pick something that you enjoy, because you are much more likely to keep it up, even on a bad day!
So for example, if you wanted to do dance or yoga you need to make sure that you have a DVD if you’re doing them at home or access to class.
You will also need to have some comfortable clothes that are flexible and keep you cool. A sports bra is never a waste of money and can help you have that all important confidence when you are moving around more.
Also, don’t forget the proper footwear. There are different types of shoes available for running or dancing so make sure you get the ones that are best suited to your activity. Scan the internet for vouchers like these FinishLine coupons, before you buy, to ensure you are getting the best possible deal for your money.
It’s obvious, but you also need to get your internal or intrinsic motivation sorted before you embark on a weight loss journey. Doing it for someone’s else’s approval is never going to work in the long term. In fact, you are just going to end up resenting your diet and the person that you are doing it for.
It does help, however, to have some milestones to get fit for. For example, you might want to run a 5K or take your kids to Disneyland without getting exhausted from walking around all day? Having a target that is relevant and meaningful for you, can help, you get to your goals a lot quicker.
