Uber And Ola Launch Their Bike Taxi Services In Bengaluru
On demand transportation providers Ola and Uber on Thursday announced the launch of their respective bike taxi services in Bengaluru, a move that will mark their presence in almost every possible land commute option. Ride hailing services Ola and Uber started at a minimum fare of Rs. 15, for UberMoto, and Rs. 30 for Ola Bikes. Ola bikes are available at an introductory fare of Rs. 2 per km and Re. 1 per minute of trip time. UberMoto has been launched at Rs. 3 per kilometre, and Rs. 1 per minute of trip time.
In many of India’s traffic clogged cities, two wheeler are the most popular form of transport, but schemes to rent a bike and driver by the kilometer are rare. The new service launched by Ola and Uber will help people save time and money on short trips across town and provide last mile connectivity. According to a statement company has set minimum fare at Rs 15, followed by Rs 3 per km and Rs 1 per min of ride-time charges.
Last week it announced its first motorcycle scheme, choosing Thailand’s capital Bangkok, where it will compete with GrabTaxi, which already lets users book motorcycle taxis in some South East Asian countries. Uber India President Amit Jain said, “Enabling transportation at the push of a button, uberMOTO will offer another affordable mobility option that will help people save time and money while helping cut congestion in cities over time”.
The uberMOTO option on the app will work the same way as the other options – uberGO, uberX and uberBLACK, available on the platform, the statement said.
